6 month not sleeping. waking every half hour

Can anyone help me as I feel like I have tried everything .

Our 6 month sleeps in a cot in our room.she she did go through a phase of 3 weeks while in her moses basket of falling asleep by herself and sleeping through until 5, waking for a feed. This was approximately 3 months ago.

She also slept for one week the same but in her cot.

For the last few months, this is a typical night:

Bath
feed
bed
wakes up to six times before 11.
Wakes up sometimes every half hour
wakes at 4 ish for a feed
goes back to sleep
Continues to wake until 6ish.

We have thermometers to check temp n dress her according to temp.she is not wet, not hungry and is not overtired as she has naps during the day.

She is teething on and off but has done since 4 months.

We are struggling to function during the say as we are so sleep deprived. Our evenings are spent trying to get her to sleep and getting her to settle. We arr a close couple but this is putting strain on us.

Our daughter also seems to dream frequently and has had a night terror.

We have tried moving her bedtime forward yo see if that helps but it makes no difference.

Can anyone suggest anything?xx

I'm in the same position as you, and I've started a thread too! I think basically we have to ride it out judging from the responses I had. Good co, this sleep deprivation sucks

link to my thread

Yes, I see why sleep deprivation is used as a form of torture! That said, I'm so used to it now I could work for MI5 or something - I'd never be broken by the bad guys!

Try the Good Sleep Guide by Angela Henderson, it has lots of good advice.

Sounds just like my DD at that age.

How is she during the day?

Have you weaned her yet? Does she have any rashes or a pink area around her bum? Does age frequently sneeze or have a runny nose?

I ask because above are signs of an allergy. My DD was like this from 4 months to 11 months. At 11 months we took out dairy, egg, soya and wheat from her and my diet, and her sleep improved. She still wakes up every 2 hours but the screaming disappeared thankfully.

The other possibility is reflux too.

What do you of when she wakes? Are you feeding everytime?

DustyRusty · 23/06/2014 14:20

Sorry, that was meant to say 'what do you do...'

I don't think she has an allergy but thanks for offering advice.

When she wakes up I pop her dummy in. She will drop back off but will wake again. She has one feed between 3 and 5. I only feed her once. She wakes differently when she is hungry and she has her eyes wide open.

I spoke to my health visitor today who said we should leave her to cry for ten minutes, then go and reassure her...it's alright for her to say. Tonight I left her crying for five minutes then reassured her. I then repeated this then patted her on her chest. She then fell asleep but not sure for how long.

Xx
