Bedtime when out

We have fallen into a bit of a pattern with 13-week old baby in terms of nap times and bedtime. This weekend I need to take him with me out for the day on the train to visit an elderly relative, so at his usual bedtime we will probably either still be on the train or be driving back from the station. I think he'll fall asleep either in the car or in the sling on the train when he's tired, as he usually sleeps well out and about. But when I get back should I do his bedtime routine later than normal (bath etc) or do I just miss it out and treat it like a night feed when he wakes up? What does everyone else do?

We did that quite a bit and normally found if they slept in the car then we could just put them into bed without waking them up. So when they woke up later it would be like a night feed.
It always worked very well for us.

I would just pop him to bed when you get home. My very routine-driven toddler copes fine with that, I pop him in his pyjamas before we leave eg the in laws, he falls asleep in the car on the way home then straight into bed and me into a glass of wine hopefully for the night :)
