Funny - Around The Block At Bedtime

Recently, I was discussing 6mo DS's bedtime woe with my mum and heard a new story from her childhood. The conversation went like this:

Mum: When I was a baby, my parents walked around the block or went for a drive at bedtime.

Me: Oh well, that's common, using motion to send a baby to sleep.

Mum: Oh no, they put me to bed, then they walked around the block or went for a drive so they didn't have to listen to me cry.

Me: ?!?! Blush

Disclaimer: I am in no way endorsing this. It was a long time ago in a land far, far away. I just thought it was funny compared to all the acronyms and methodologies I'm wading through trying to figure out how to get DS to sleep better.

I'm just imagining the reaction this would get as a sleep solution on the "Am I Being Unreasonable?" board. Dynamite!

Grin My MIL told me that she would routinely leave OH's brother in his pram in the garden to sleep. She went on to add that she didn't do it if it was raining as that would be mean. When it rained he went in the shed!!!!

Nicky-my MIL left all her dc in the pram in the garden for 'naps'. She was amazed when I told her ds only naps for 45 minutes at a time-but then I reckon she has no idea how long hers actually napped for.

And they say controlled crying is a new idea!!

My granny slept all her babies in the garden during the day. All were winter babies. They were allowed in when the tempoerature got to freezing!
