Nap training. How do I do it?

Dd is 11 months. Has two naps a day 10am for 20-30 mins then an hour about 2pm.

The afternoon nap is causing problems. She fights it, will only sleep on me, sometimes in car seat or pushchair. If I put her down or stop moving she wakes and is in a horrible mood. I need her to go in her cot or half term is going to be hell with her brother running round there is no way she's going to sleep.

I need to get to the point I can put her in her cot or on floor and she sleeps. At night she can be hard to settle although she can self settle if tired enough. She wakes once or twice and is generally good at going back to sleep.

Oh and if she gets over tired we've had it! Hours of screaming baby usually resulting in us having to put her in her cot till she exhausts herself.

I wonder if she just needs one nap a day, and you could try moving the 10am one back a bit? If you tried at, say, 11am, she might sleep for longer and that is all she needs for the day? Just a thought. I am not there yet as only have a 10MO, who is currently fighting 2nd nap also....

My DD is 11 months and has dropped her morning nap and only naps in the afternoon, usually for around 1.5 or 2 hours. Could that be the cause?
