2.5ds dropping nap. Quiet time instead?

Hello,

My 2.5ds appears to be dropping his afternoon nap. Only a matter of weeks ago this was two hours long. He won't lie down in his cot, just shouts and wails to get out, and tbf doesn't seem sleepy.

I have heard of some dc having a quiet time in their room for an hour or whatever instead.

How does that work then? Is this parent or child-led? I mean, is it insisted upon by mum or something the child wants to do?

Does that make sense? I just can't imagine my ds playing independently for that long.

Is there anything else I should be thinking about as ds drops nap? Earlier bedtime??

TIA

Sometimes my dd wants a nap and sometimes she doesnt (she is also 2.5). On the days she doesnt I couldnt imagine still putting her in her bedroom Confused

Could you snuggle on the couch for stories or a movie around that time?
