Hello,
Please help!
This is my first post so apologies in advance for the waffle!
ds1 is 2.5 and in every way an angel (well, mostly!). He has always slept through and never wakes up (and I'm not making it up!). I've always kept quiet about it as didn't like to boast and knew I'd get it bad second time round, I just didn't realise how bad!
ds2 is 10mths old. He has reflux (medicated) and multiple food allergies. From day 1 he wouldn't sleep so for sanity we co-slept. I breastfed and he fed 2-hourly day and night. I finally weaned him off the breast and out of our bed at 6mths, and by 7mths he was only having two feeds in the night and waking early for the day. Recently we have managed to get this down to sleeping through from 7/7:30 to 5ish (ish - this morning 4:40!). But that's him awake for the day! Nothing I do to get him back to sleep helps. Most days he's happy playing in his cot so I turn the monitor off and leave him until 6am as I think that's a reasonable time to start the day! I kind of hoped he'd get the message after a while!
I've tried feeding him as soon as he wakes at 5, but this just wakes him even more.
I've tried cutting down his daytime naps (even tried droppi down to one nap as he sometimes only has 10 mins in the morning)
I've tried increasing his naps and making sure he has an hour in the morning and 2 at lunch.
I've tried making sure he never sleeps past 3oc. Nothing works!
He has been crawling since 4mths, cruising since 5 and is almost walking unaided - so I can't even hope he sleeps better when active as he is ALWAYS active. He never sits still!
He isn't teething any more than usual - he had seven teeth by seven months, so whilst I'm sure we're due some more soon, I don't feel it is at all connected.
Oh, and he eats like a baby piglet! As much as The Toddler plus milk on top, so it isn't like he's hungry!
Do I just have to accept he is just going to be an early riser (which I'm fine to do if so!), or am I missing a trick?!
Any thoughts / tips / advice gratefully received!
Thanks!
