DS and his cot

DS is 8 months old. He will generally go to sleep in his cot at the start of the night and after his second night feed, but not after his first. I have had five failed attempts so far tonight and been awake with him for over an hour. He will sleep quite happily next to me in our bed (DH is away at the moment).

He is teething but has had calpol, so shouldn't be in pain.

He shares a room with DD so I don't want to leave him to cry too much as I can't face a sleep deprived toddler as well.

Any ideas how I can get him to stay in his cot? I go back to work next week and need some sleep. He's bf.

DD was exactly the same- ok until the first waking then awake every hour until morning but would sleep through in bed with me.
Don't have any suggestion at 8 months but I always suspected that DD just hated the cot. We got a bed for her at 18months and she has slept in her bed with maybe one short (seconds to settle) awake period from the first night she was in there
Hope you get some sleep soon!
