I read Andrea Graces book Gentle Sleep Solutions recently and have been implementing her approach with my son for about 10 nights so far. He's EBF and will be 6 months next week.
I have been putting him to bed awake as advised, and only feeding him for 5 minutes each time he wakes overnight. He has learnt to self settle quickly and only cries or gets upset the odd time, but in general, settles to sleep in the cot straight away which is great. However, he is still waking between 5-6 times for a feed every night, and Andreas advice in the book is that babies tend to drop feeds overnight once they get used to only having a 5 minute feed- is it just too soon still maybe or is he just comfort feeding?
Also, she advises not feeding at all overnight from 6 months and once they've got used to having their night feeds limited to a short time. So I'm considering stopping the feeds now and just comforting him without picking him up overnight- has anyone else had success with this approach?
I'm not expecting him to suddenly start sleeping through by any means, but waking a little less frequently during the night would surely benefit both of us in having some more unbroken sleep?
Any advice would really be appreciated as I feel we're getting on well with the new routine so far but I really want to see this through successfully now?
