To cot bumper, or to not cot bumper, that is the question!

Ok, so my baby girl is going to be moving into her own room in her cot bed soon. She's in a travel cot in our room at the moment and she wriggles around, a lot! So much so, that she's often the other way around from the was I put her in when I go to get her our in the morning! With that in mind, I'm pondering cot bumpers of some sort in her big cot, because I'm worried she'll bang her head on the sides when she does her little rotating trick. I'm also worried about the safety of bumpers, as you hear concerns about suffocation with them. What are your thoughts? (Normal ones, mesh, none?)

Get the mesh air wrap ones. Other bumpers not safe.

Here's the NCT about safety in cots. 'Normal' bumpers are not recommended for infants under 1 year old because of SIDS risk.

I'd opt for no bumper at all.

I second the Airwrap.

I should have shares in them I recommend them so often on here!

They're tougher than you think! We've just put the bars up on our bedside cot and our DD is all over the place (I think before she just used to find me instead!)
I did wonder for a moment but then realised she's either smart enough not to do it, she's done it a few times and learnt not to do it or she's bashing into the bars but it's not bothering her.
For me they fall into the category of 'look pretty baby things' but not essential (and I can't be bothered buying!)

No bumper IMHO. They're not v safe (as pp has said) and your dd isn't likely to do herself an injury

I never had a bumper and don't remember any head banging problems.

Thanks everyone! I thought as much. May get some of the mesh ones, or not! We'll see how we get on!
