Please can someone help? My 15 week old ds used to sleep well at night, but has now taken to waking two or three times. What has happened? Will he go back to 'sleeping through' soon?
thanks for any advice

It's 4 month sleep regression and may well settle down after a couple of weeks. My 15 WK old is in the midst of this as well. It's hellish.

Middleofthenight7 · 26/04/2014 03:55

Should I feed him everytime he wakes up or should I try to comfort first? Not sure if he's hungry or just wants a cuddle. I have been feeding him and he takes it but am I setting myself up for bad habits?
Thanks

You probably dont want to hear this but I'm also in the midst of a 4 month sleep regression. My LO is waking HOURLY! It's insane. Been this way for 3 weeks. For some people it seems to pass, for others it can continue :( I'm just doing whatever I can to get some sleep - co-sleeping, BFing to sleep. Its hell but I am just hoping it ends as quickly as it started. Have you read up on the 4 month sleep regression or the wonder weeks?

Sorry I can;t be of much help! I'm at week 18 right now....apparently it ends at 19.5 weeks. There is a few old threads on mumsnet about it.

pinkr · 26/04/2014 22:38

what you really don't want to hear is that this happened to me and at eight, yes eight, months she's showing no sign of improvement. I would kill for sleep. Angry Sad

Cakeismymaster · 26/04/2014 22:43

Yep what pink said, I'm at 7.5 months too..

Looks like we are all in the same boat :( At the weekends my partner takes my LO in the morning (he is sleeping on the sofa at the moment) so I can get at least an hour or two of sleep. We have 6 more days until the end of this wonder week but last night my LO came down with a cold! This is what kicked it all off in the first place. We are also travelling to Florida on Wednesday so really not a good time at all. All I want is for things to go back to normal!

pink and cake really really sorry to hear that you are still going through this! I am not sure there is really any hope left for us. I was thinking that maybe the big trip would snap him out of it......

My dd1 slept from 11pm-6am at six weeks, and then gradually got to sleep earlier and earlier in the evenings until she was sleeping from 7pm-6.30am at ten weeks, without fail. Then at fifteen weeks she started to wake in the night.

She was born in 2000 and the health advice at the time was to start weaning with baby rice at 16 weeks. Three days of baby rice and she was back to sleeping through as before (also not uncommon amongst my group of baby friends at the time). I know that the advice now is to wean later, and I'm not suggesting that you should ignore the government's advice but just to show that it is probably hunger/growth spurt and that it will pass once the feeding is sorting/growing phase is over. Good luck!

noshthis · 27/04/2014 11:34

Hi scooby thanks for the reassurance! Interestingly today is the third day I have been trying baby rice. Can I ask how much you gave? I'm only giving 1 serving but it seems like so little. I havent seen any change in the last 2 nights but maybe this will be the magical night?!!?

My health visitor gave me this advice just the other day so I'm just going with it. I'll update the thread if I see any change.

Scoobyblue · 27/04/2014 22:10

I honestly can't remember how much I gave... But I remember that once we started on baby rice it all moved rather quickly as dd1 was like a hoover and ate anything which passed her nose. Really hope tonight is the magical night!!!!! Good luck again.

noshthis · 27/04/2014 22:37

No such luck so far my dh is settling him now. After only 2 hours down :(

noshthis · 28/04/2014 09:19

So last night was the worst yet. I dont think either of us got any sleep from 11-530 which is when I gave my DP the baby. He would only sleep on me and even then only for short 10 mins. This cold is making things a lot worse :(

How was everyone else;s nights?

FengMa · 28/04/2014 09:23

I'm right here with you. DS seemed to peak at 9 wakings on Thurs and has steadily improved since then, to 3 wakings (one of which is before I lay my own head anyway).

He used to sleep 10 hours, have a 20 min feed and back to sleep for 3 hours. Oh blessed nights!

I am the walking dead!
