What age to change cotbed into cot?

Hi all

My DS is 2 next week, he's a great sleeper so not particularly desperate to move him into a bed. Just wondered when everyone moved there babes from cotbed to bed?

I'm expecting DC2 in September and plan to move DS into our big spare bedroom and for them to eventually share. Don't want to change the bed and room all at once.

Thoughts please! Thanks

Title should read 'change into bed' not cot

DD's still in her cotbed and she's 5yrs old! She is fairly petite tho...

Think we converted it into a bed at about 2.5yrs?

Ds is just over two and still in his cot. No plans to change it to cot bed until he tries to climb out or (outgrows it).

I think cotbeds are supposed to fit until around 5, but DS is very tall so will probably need a full size bed by the time he's 4. But did you want it back for DC2 to use in a cot? If so, you might as well do it sooner rather than later, as you say so the changes don't all come at once.

About 18m I think?

My DD is 2.7 and still in cot mode.

My nephew has been in his bed since 17m. DS at 23m is nowhere near ready as he sleeps upside down, back to front and everywhere in between.

There's no magic age. Do you think your ds is ready?

I did it at about 14 mths. Took dd nearly a year to realise she could get out of it she used to just sit up and shout for us , didn't realise she could get out. Once she did we just made sure safety gate on her door.
