Rolling onto front during the night.

Dd is six months and has now gone into her own room.
I have been in a couple of times and it appears she is rolling into her front to sleep.
We have a angel care monitor in there but obviously it is not great for her to do this. Any ideas?

from 6 months you can let them find their own sleeping position so if she rolls over and is happy there then just leave her. You should still put her down for sleeps on her back.

I was always told if they can roll there they can roll back and therefore it's fine.

My 18mo DD sleeps in the oddest positions!

Watching replies with interest cause my 6.5 mo has just started doing this. He sleeps much better on his tummy but it freaks me out!

Sorry to butt in but does it make ay difference if they are in a sleeping bag or have blankets?

HeyBungalowBill · 18/04/2014 13:02

My DS is 7 months and has recently started sleeping on his front or his side.

It worried me at first but he's very happy Smile

He sleeps in a sleeping bag and it ends up all twisted

AnythingNotEverything · 18/04/2014 13:08

Madratlady - probably better in a bag as they can't get underneath it like they could with a blanket, but yes, once they can roll you don't need to worry as much about sleeping positions.

our DD sleeps on her stomach all the time, she always rolled over onto her side then went further and rolled onto her stomach. she also likes to put a cover over her head Hmm since she was very little, maybe 4 months? if we took it off she pulled it back... we worried to begin with but just leave her to it now as she seems happy.

Thanks for the replies. Dd is in a sleeping bag. Ds was such a deep sleeper I swear he never moved much.

I would love DD (8mo) to sleep on her front. She will currently only really settle on her side, but then sooner or later rolls onto either her front or her back and then wakes up crying. Four times so far tonight since 7.30...

NiMhurchu · 20/04/2014 00:28

DS is 9m and is a belly sleeper since he started rolling. If she's in a sleeping bag she will be fine. Make sure sheets are well tucked underneath and tight, no wrinkles.

How would you like it if someone flipped you over everytime you got comfortable?Grin

Hugothehippo look up sleep nests. I think you can buy actual products but can also make them from a towel rolled up. I believe scbu babies sleep in nests? Maybe not best now that she's older and mobile but have a look
