10mo not sleeping through yet

She wakes at about 2am without fail, then needs 1.5 hours of rocking to go back to sleep.

We used to feed her during this gap but on advice of HV we stopped this so that she had no reason to wake up. Three weeks later though she is still waking at the same time!

She's only slept through about 5 times in her life. She hardly naps during the day. I don't know what more we can do?

We've got a toddler who gets up at 5.30 so we would really like to not have to be awake for that chunk too!

My DS would always wake in the night at that point for a long stretch if he was overtired. A ten month old who barely naps is probably overtired so I would work hard to try to get some decent daytime sleep in, car seat, pram, rocking, whatever it took.

What would happen at 2am if you fed her? If she would go back to sleep straight away I'd be tempted to do that! Plenty of babies have night feeds at that age.

Out of my three, one slept through from 10 weeks, the other two were 2 and 2.5 before they did - 10 months is still very little. At 10 months, my son was still feeding 2 or 3 times overnight, I'd just carry on feeding her for now (on the assumption that she goes straight to sleep after). I'd definitely work on getting her to nap during the day too - will she fall asleep in the car if necessary?

My 10 month old doesn't sleep through either - although in some ways is worse as she has a totally unreliable pattern so may wake up at 10.30pm and/or 1am and/or 4.30 am!!

Tbh she will now usually feed and go straight back to sleep so I take the easy option - I do not have the patience or energy to be rocking and settling during the night as my older dc have to be up and ready for school so I have no option but to be up from about 6.30am whatever DD is doing!!

My DS is similar. Also been trying not to feed at wake ups and recently stopped night feeding. I'm also trying to avoid picking up so that he gets the idea of going to sleep without me. At 4am today after 45 mins of trying to get him to sleep I fed him. With some wake ups he settles much more quickly. I'm wondering if offering him formula when he wakes and wants to feed would discourage wakings?

I'd happily feed him once per night, I'm just wary that will lead us back to waking and wanting feed 3 times per night!

Our 10 month old has never slept through. No where near it.

We've had teething, chest and ear infections, more teething, cold after bloody cold, starting nursery and a house move. So it's no surprise really.

I'm going by the mantra 'he'll grow out of it' - I hope! Or I will have the only 18 year old who goes off to university still needing his mum at 3am!
