When to introduce a pillow

Hi all,
A friend of mine asked about whether to start using a pillow for her 1yo and that got me thinking. My DS (he's just turned 1) seems to settle better for naps if he has something soft under his head and I was wondering if that would help him to settle easier in his cot at night. He still wakes for feeding and often falls asleep on me, and sometimes I think the transition from Mum's comfy shoulder to a less comfy cot makes him wake up again.
Thanks in advance.

The guidance is not before 1.
I've heard people say not til they ask for it.

Both mine got a pillow when they escaped the cot and got a duvet and bed (ie 24 months and 18 months).

When you say something soft under his head, what about putting an under blanket on the bed to make things softer?

both mine had them from 1 year
