dd woke at 7, fed & has been sleeping ever since. she spent most of yesterday asleep until about 4pm, was awake until 7 tehn slept on & off allnight.
is this normal? I'm worrying myself thatshe should be awake more in teh day at this stage. when she is awake she does seem quite alert & is feeding well.
how can I stop myslef worrying about every littel thing? I'm sue if she was awake all the time I'd be postinf about that too.......

Hi
someone told me at this stage there is no such thing as normal and no particular pattern and that as long as she is sleeping, eating and putting on weight -dont' worry
I pressurised myself at the beginning and worried if things were 'normal'.But in reality there is no normal and you have to get to know your baby and as she grows she will change almost on a daily basis. That is why it is so difficult.
If shes putting on weight and getting some sleep don't worry, things will settle down and be more predictable in the next few weeks.

absolutely, if she's alert and feeding well

at 5 weeks they sleep as long as they want - be glad of the break!

As long as she learns to become binurdial (sp?) ie she knows when it is night time and is accordingly tired then let her sleep.

My boy is just over 7 weeks now- for the first 5 all he seemed to do was sleep! Don't worry, take it as a chance to have a kip / make a sandwich / watch Trisha or whatever!
