Hi, I am planning a creative project about events and situations children have slept through. Please help me by sharing the noisiest / busiest / most absurd situations your kids have slept right through... your help would be much appreciated!

new years fireworks at Disney in Florida! They managed to stay awake until about ten to midnight, then zonked out and refused to wake up. One twin also slept through meeting Mickey Mouse - fell asleep jsut as we had queued for an hour.

My young siblings slept through the earthquake where our town was the epicentre Grin

(i was terrified the world was ending) !

cakeandcustard · 10/03/2014 13:44

DS2 was a terrible sleeper at night, we went on holiday to the lake district when he was 7 months and he managed to nap through an RAF jet fighter flying through the valley!

hazeyjane · 10/03/2014 13:51

Ds slept through 3 hours of the paralympics in the olympic stadium.

Sleepyoto · 10/03/2014 14:34

Yesterday DS (3) fell asleep in the taxi on the way to the airport, stayed asleep being put on the floor waiting for gate to be called (no buggy), taking coat off at security, on to the plane, slept through the entire flight including take off and landing - didn't wake up till we got to baggage reclaim at the other end!

DS,19 weeks, has recently just slept through workman using a pneumatic drill directly outside his nursery window.

I slept through a Queen concert many years ago.

My Dsis fell asleep in the midst of a throng of people leaving The Magic Kingdom after the midnight fireworks on Millenium New Years Eve Grin she was probably a little older than you are looking at (6) but shewas totally asleep, snoring, and even though on foot, was sort of being "carried" through the crowd.

Pancakeflipper · 16/03/2014 16:55

My 8 yr old slept through two heavy and very long shelves falling off his bedroom wall onto his bed covering him with board games. Bits of games everywhere, in his bed, in his hair. Slept through the crash and our midnight rescue mission.

As a child, I slept through the storm of 87 (I dreamt that the big bad wolf was blowing down my house) and I slept through water gushing onto my bed front he flat above. And I mean gushing, not just a trickle. Grin

We have a huge heavy mirror on the landing outside of dds door, around 3am last night it fell from the wall and smashed all over - it sounded like somebody had broke down our front door it was that loud - dd didn't stir and was most annoyed this morning that the mirror has 'disappeared'

Ds can cry beside her and she doesn't wake, there's been fireworks next door and she hasn't woke, nothing at all wakes her up once she's asleep.

Hurricane Sandy - we were living IN NYC in an apartment building. 3yr old slept through whilst we worried about whether to leave the area.

I once had an intruder while I was in the house, I was sat in the living room and saw a shadow under the door which I assumed was the cat until I went into the kitchen and came face to face to a man rifling through my cupboards!

I screamed blue murder, luckily he shot out so I then rang the police who came to take fingerprints etc. DD slept through the lot, she was laid next to me on the sofa, I needed a large whiskey afterwards Grin

BagOfBags · 16/03/2014 17:21

DS slept through several music festivals during the 1st summer of his life, the 1 at being when he was about 6 weeks old.

melonribena · 17/03/2014 08:52

We took ds ( then 8mth old) on a short flight. It was noisy and busy and he loved playing peekaboo with the lady on the seat behind.

Anyway, he sat on my knee while we landed. I looked down and he'd dozed off! Slept through the landing, all of the passengers disembarking, a walk in the wind down the steps from the plane and was still fast asleep when plonked in his buggy in the arrival lounge!

Pidgy · 19/03/2014 03:31

DS (21 months at the time) slept through the unplanned home birth of his sister in January. To be fair I wasn't that noisy, but there was a fair amount of people running up and down stairs, opening cupboards to get towels, lots of talking from the 3 ambulance crew & the midwife that finally arrived. Plus his sister had a very good cry and hasn't really stopped for a few hours it seemed.

His face was a picture in the morning when he came into our room!

HippoCritic · 19/03/2014 05:37

Drug raid on the flat next to us, for my eldest- loud and noisy.

The London Riots, loads of noise, firework sound going off, banging, shouting. That was DD, she slept fine through it all.

WaveorCheer · 19/03/2014 06:01

Ah, Biscuit, maybe we slept through the same concert (are you my DSis?!).

My DC - nothing, ever.

froubylou · 19/03/2014 06:16

DD aged 7 slept through dp's appendix bursting, the pacing up and down, the shower, the turning the house upside down to find strong painkillers, me accussing him of being over dramatic, me phoning the ambulance. Then the paramedics arriving, gas and air being administered, him being literally carried downstairs screaming on every step and being carted out and blue lighted to hospital.

She didn't know a thing until next morning when she woke up and my sister was on the sofa lol.

DP had a perforated bowel and if his appendix hadn't gone when it did wouldn't be here to tell the tale.

DS (14 weeks old) is another story and wakes up if I turn over in bed.

17leftfeet · 19/03/2014 06:32

Not my dcs but me

I slept through a tree crashing through our glass front door during the storms in 1987

I woke up to find the front door boarded up and my parents clearing up the debris!

SpiderStacy · 19/03/2014 06:35

Age 5, DS slept through the edinburgh military tattoo. We were sitting next to a speaker. Two years later he slept through the second half of the tattoo.

maui50 · 19/03/2014 09:15

In the middle of his christening, shortly after the priest dunked his head in cold holy water Smile

mistlethrush · 19/03/2014 09:22

At 6 weeks old DS slept through a rehearsal of Belshazzar's feast - full symphony orchestra, large choir, 2 brass bands. At 4.5 he went to sleep to Beethoven septet (with a French horn) being played in the downstairs room with an open stairway and flimsy holiday cottage door in between. He's never woken to the dog barking or general things happening in the house either.

EugenesAxe · 19/03/2014 10:28

mistlethrush - I love Belshazzer's Feast - he missed out there. My DS did rouse himself in utero when I was sat very close to the RAH organ for the last movement of Saint-Saens' No. 3, though!

mistlethrush · 19/03/2014 13:05

Eugenes - I sang in the Christmas Oratorio when pregnant - when I was singing or the orchestra was playing loudly DS was still and when nothing was happening or it was too quiet I was getting lots of kicks... 'Mum, the music's stopped... make it start again!'

EugenesAxe · 19/03/2014 20:12

Haha! I know it's taboo to mention it, but your last post is when I really want a 'like' button! Nothing meaningful to add except it made me chuckle.
