cot climber change to bed?

hi there. 18mth old ds has just discovered climbing out of his cotbed, the result being falling out earlier this evening. have been to a&e but thankfully no problems. We were just wondering whether to change the cotbed into a bed with a bedguard. ds has no problems falling asleep, and sometimes babbles away to himself before falling asleep with no problems at all, so didn't want to unsettle his routine. we have got the cotbed set to the middle setting, and can lower to the lowest setting. would this be enough, or is it worthwhile going straight to the bed. i had the same habits when i was 18mth old, and was transferred to a bed, although my mum isn't keen on this for ds. just wondered what you all thought??

Phew glad she's OK, what a relief!

I would put the mattres as low as possible to give yourself a few more months - my DS is 25 months and we tried a bed a few months ago as he was having no problems sleeping and was looking like climbing out- 2 weeks later with vvvv frazzled nerves we went back to the cot...so I personally feel he's a bit young. Howeverm y best mates DD (same age as my DS) has been in a bed for about 5 months, but then she never really slept well in a cot, and always slept in her parents bed for daytime naps!

I guess the best thing would be to keep the cot bed as a cot and have a separate bed if poss so if it doesn't work you're not trying to build the cot when DH is at work (grr) with DS trying to climb IN to it!!!!! Good luck!

We have the Argos toddler bed which is nice and low when they fall out!! IKEA is good as it extends to single bed as they grow so keeps the cost down , anyone else got any ideas?
