hello, this is my second post on mumsnet so sorry if long winded - I'm not so good at this! My son is soon to be 1 (on Friday) and his sleeping patterns are going slightly awry to say the least. He's never really slept through the night which we've just accepted but has, on really good nights, just woken up once at around 1ish and then slept through to 6.45am. But, lately he's started waking up every couple of hours again and waking up really early wanting to play...he's not walking yet but is cruising and is super active during the day. his napping pattern during the day is also on the wonk. sometimes he's not interested in a morning nap, sometimes this means he sleeps for 2-3 hours in the afternoon and sometimes this means he sleeps for 45 minutes in the afternoon. loads of mates with children slightly older than my lo say to move him to an afternoon nap only but on days when he's slept badly, like last night, he loves and needs his morning nap. others say just go with the flow and let him lead me and not to wake him up from his naps. I've tried both methods and neither seem to work. I know teething remains an issue for night time sleep too....I guess I'm just looking to see what others have experienced and if a change in pattern is normal at this stage in their life. I wish I could be more relaxed about it but I keep worrying I'm doing something wrong that's obliterating any chance of him ever becoming a decent sleeper! (and that I will never sleep again!)
