Pick up / put down with shhs in cot... Will it work for naps only?

So I've posted before... I have now four month old b/g twins (plus a 3 yo!). I feed them to sleep at night but, so far, they sleep wonderfully (v aware this might all be about to change!). They're reliably asleep by 7.45 after bedtime at 7 (after bath etc with DD) and, if I dream feed at 11, wake once at 3ish. If I don't dream feed and just collapse into bed, they wake at 1 and 5. But yes, I totally feed them to sleep...

Nap times are... Interesting. They have fallen into a routine of:

8.30
11.30
2.30/45
Catnap in sling at 5

All pretty normal for their age I think.

Morning nap has to be in the pram for pre school run or dog walk. DD kept that morning nap until a year and a bit I think. Equally the 2.45 nap is mostly in the pram for the afternoon school run.

I envisage the catnap in late afternoon being dropped in due course and eventually being left with the 11.30 nap getting later until its 12.30ish... And that being the lunchtime/afternoon nap that sticks.

So... I'm working on getting that 11.30 nap looong and in the cot. For a week now I've been mimicking bedtime routine (nappy change, dark bedroom, sleeping bags, white noise, feed) and doing pick up/ put down, plus a bit of leaving them to cry for (literally) a couple of minutes. No joy. 11.30-1 just ends up being a haze (for them) of very sleepy crying in a dark room, settling then startling etc... Argh!

Is it too soon? Twins plus toddler means I do need a cot nap at some point...

Should I [whispers] Ferberize...?

Just to clarify, as things stand, I'm leaving bedtimes as they are and will continue to feed to sleep and feed when they wake. I just can't face / don't need / don't like nighttime sleep training.

So sleep training just for naps.....? Help!

Bump....

It's only working sporadically... Sometimes it makes them more hysterical (so I give up and feed to sleep...)

Help! What actually works here?!

Just to add, for the initial going into cot, they do feed to sleep.... I can't stop them! I guess it's because they're still so little (or my milk has more of those konking out chemicals!), but if tired, they always fall asleep even when sucking vigorously... To take them off would be shortening a feed and result in an eyeful of milk.... How does everyone else get them to NOT fall asleep feeding?!?! DD always did until weaned!

It's crazy, I feel v experienced and competent about most baby things, but I'm at a loss here.... Help please!!!
