advice reqd on ditching the dummy!

hi

does anyone have any advice on when / how to wean my son off his dummy? he is 19 months old at the moment, and i have a baby due next march so would like to tackle issues like the dummy and potty training before the next one comes along!

My DD came off it at 15 months - we left them under the Xmas tree on Xmas eve for Santa to take to all the little babies - lo and behold next morning tonnes of presents under tree, no dummies. She has been fine ever since, mind you she is 4.5 now.
