would you be concerned?

DS is 22mths old. He had up until the last 6-8 days given up his day time sleeps but has needed them again lately. Only thing is he is sleeping 3-4hrs and would sometimes go longer but I wake him. He has had a couple of unsettled nites but mostly is getting 11 hours average at nite too. This seems alot for a boy his age and especially when he had been going without any sleep in the day. Do you think it could be a symptom of something not quite right?

It may be the heat knocking him out ,in this weather my dd would sleep all day if i let her.

he almost always wakes at least once but will settle himself after a brief chat to the covers, curtains and toys without help for the most part. I have tried over the last 3 days to restrict the sleep but he has been really really upset when woken and not coped at all with the afternoon, he seems to do better if I just let him wake naturally even if he goes for 4 hours.

leander we are in NZ so very much doubt that the heat is a prob as we are having the coldest winter in many years. Thanks for the reply though.

thanks for the reassurance, just thought that 15hrs seemed loads of sleep for an almost 2yr old, shouldn't complain but he has been very sick in the past and so am a bit hypersensitive to any changes in his pattern.

When DS was that age, he would happily sleep 12 hours at night and have a 3 (or sometimes even 4) hour nap in the day.

Ah PC just what I wanted to hear, thank you, will enjoy my afternoons while he is sleeping in that case
