5mo daytime naps RUINED by Christmas break

I hate to sound all "Bah Humbug" but my 5mo DD's daytime sleep routine has been destroyed by the disruption to her (very loose) routine over the Christmas break. She would usually have about an hour in the morning, two hours at lunch (usually in the pram) and then a catnap at around 4:30. Now I'm lucky to get her to sleep for longer than an hour all day. She's an overtired mess and just whinges all day. I've had so many unhelpful comments from visiting relatives which just gives me unbelievable rage. Angry

Anyone else experienced this and will I ever get my napping baby back?!

She's also probably starting a transition to 2 naps around this age? I'm trying to remember when my DS did, I think it was around 6 months and he was having a solid 2 hour nap in the morning and one in the afternoon by 7 months.

Does she sleep in the car? To help reset her I'd be inclined to bung her in the car/pram at naptimes and spend a couple of days getting the schedule back on track.

Thanks Jassy, I wondered whether she needed fewer naps but she is showing signs of tiredness (rubbing eyes, yawning, sucking thumb, whinging) but just not sleeping! She is only ever awake for around 2 hours at a time; after that she gets ratty.

I also wondered whether it was worth getting her in the pram for her naps just to re-establish the pattern. Will give it a go. It's starting to impact on her night time sleep so am at my wit's end!

I agree about the transition. They're always changing.

However, holidays are a PITA indeed. I'd take her out fir a spin in the pram at a suitable time, to get away from "helpful" comments.

Sympathy. Our wee one's sleep knackered by Christmas. Just hoping it'll settle down once we're back in routine.

We transitioned to 2 naps at 6 months but some days still do 3 if the first nap is short.

Good luck getting back to normal.

Mine are older, but Christmas has shot our (loose) routine too. Kids back at school next week so just re-establish the routine when the visits from relatives have stopped.

We are trying to get our 3 yo to start going to bed at night, since she came out of a cot 9 months ago she won't go to bed.

Just before Christmas she kept falling asleep at nursery, including in her food Xmas Grin we need to get past this.
