DD2 has not been a good sleeper in the day so far but things seem to be getting worse. She only sleeps for about 20mins / half an hour whether at home or on the go and if she is put down at any point she wakes up almost immediately. Frighteningly the sling seems to have lost its magic too. As a result she is always tired during the day and we spend a large part of it trying to get her to drop off which is a bit unfair on DD2 who is 2.4.

Any thoughts on how we can get her to sleep for longer during the day? Or is this just her? Or is it 4 month regression?

What does she do at night? Is she in a cot or co-sleeping?

She might be like my dd who only slept well in the day when it was virtually pitch black, quiet and in her cot!! She would otherwise fight sleep for as long as poss and then wake after 15 mins!!

She sleeps 8-8 in her cot at night with 1 or 2 feeds, so really good! Not had much chance to try her in her cot in the day but maybe I need to change that. How do you get your DD to sleep in her cot in the day girliefriend? Feeding? Pat and shush? Is she asleep before you put her in?

Hi well my dd is 7yo now Grin but from what I can remember i established a daytime 'bedtime' routine if that makes sense?!

So would get the room dark, change nappy and leave tights/trousers off, bf so she was sleepy, pop into sleeping bag and put mobile on. If she cried would sit quietly near by and reassure. I only picked up if she was getting really distressed.

If she wakes at 8am I would aim to put her down for a nap at around 10am and 1pm ish. If she wakes after 20mins and just grumbles a bit I would hang back and see if she can settle back to sleep on her own. I think its around 4months that babies sleep cycles naturally get a bit longer so you may find she improves soon anyway!!
