Falling out of bed

My 3.3 year old dd has fallen out of bed for 3 nights in the run now , she's been in a bed with no bedguards since 18 months and this is the first time she's ever done this. She has had a cold/virus type thing but its getting better now , do you think it's because of the heat and moving around to try and get cool or do they go through this phase?

I've put a pillow on the floor now just in case it's just weird she's never done it before until this week.

She may have an ear infection which may not have any other apparent symptoms other than loss of balance. The resulting vertigo can be very disorientating and she may not realise she is on the bed edge when she rolls. It is usually worse in one position and it may be that lying down as opposed to standing up brings it on.

The heat though may be the answer too. My 3 year old, whose matress is on the floor, regularly wriggles onto the carpet in this heat.

Have you still got the bed guard to put back temporarily?

Ty Maggi, No we never used a bed guard at all and she never fell out till now! Thinking it may be the heat as she's getting better now but could have also been inner ear infection.
