Since putting my 4 month old baby in her cot for naps and sleep, she has always settled with the aid of her dummy. However, she's increasingly aware that being carried upstairs means that she is being banished. She tenses on the stairs and screams in the cot. She does sleep after a few minutes. i'm more concerned about how upset it makes her initially. I've tried putting her in with light on so she can feel familiar and I stroke her head etc. I'm worried that once she can sit up, she'll be unable to settle.
Any ideas on how i can help her be less distressed?
thanks Dawnx

Carry her around with you before she goes to sleep. Don´t put her down directly upon going upstairs. A sling is great to get them more sleepy and make a baby feel close and more settled. Then she will not perhaps feel so banished
