Breast feeding co sleeper

My ds is 14 months old, still breast feeds and we co sleep (in a different room to dh). We have all liked this arrangement until recently. 1) we have a night out on Friday and PILs will be putting ds to bed for the first time and 2) hubby and I want to get a bit more back to normal ie sleeping in the same bed and spending more time together! I know that ds won't go down in the cot for PILs, and they don't know about the co sleeping. And I can't even begin to imagine how we will ever get him to sleep through and in his own cot. I just don't know what to do Sad

I'm sort of in the same boat with my dd 13 m old in the fact that she co-sleeps and bf and will not settle in the cot.

I have tried the cot but even in a deep sleep, she'll wake within 5 mins of being in the cot.

Watching your thread and hope to get some good tips ( although I'm too soft and give in to my dd).

No help to you both other than I'm in the same boat! DD is almost a year now and i just don't know how to get her in her cot smoothly. I've cut out night feeds now just the bedtime feed which usually puts her to sleep, although she's had a cold and not fed as well so had to be rocked to sleep the last few nights. I'd love to be able to put her down and her go to sleep calmly. Here's hoping someone comes along with a solution.
