Hi all
Not sure what I should do with my 5 month old DD. She's always been able to self settle but I've been having to use the dummy a lot lately. I really don't want to rely on it as she spits it out then wakes again.
She's now waking after 45mins every night and will only go back to sleep if I give her the dummy. I tried PU/PD but she just screamed for a full 20 mins. There is no calming her down when she's waking - only the dummy will do..
Does anyone have any tips on how I can settle her without the dummy?! She used to just have a moan and fall asleep after 10 mins but she's actually crying nowadays and I don't know what to do!!!

Didn't want to leave you unanswered. We've been there too and PU/PD was a nightmare.

Check out some threads on four month sleep regression and no cry sleep solution for good advice. I don't know how to post links, sorry.

I think it's a developmental stage for some babies, you're not alone!

I had this with my DS at 4.5 months. He could not fall asleep without the dummy, and therefore woke crying every 45 mins (the length of his sleep cycle) and cried till I fed him to sleep, or put his dummy in. One night I must have put it back in about 50 times and the next morning I threw it in the bin! That day/night I just comforted him none stop (but no dummy!), he was upset, but I just cuddled him lots, and it wasn't that bad, and the next night he found him thumb to suck.
