co sleeping question

hi I'm now pretty much fully cosleeping with my lo in order to get enough sleep, continue bf and help him sleep (seems to panic unless with someone).

I was putting him to bed in a cot in his room and then taking him in with me (bedside cot) at the first wake up - usually an hour or so later. after a rather squirmy period where I've found it easier to feed in bed at bedtime and let him go to sleep there (too keen to play when I bf him in his room) he's started waking and having hysterics if ive not made it to bed yet. In his cot he was grizzling.

have I completely confused him? and possibly made him more clingy? is it best to keep to cot till I'm actually going to be in bed with him? I was starting to find it pointless in the cot as he was completely awake and we had to do the whole going to sleep thing again! he's 11.5 months.

Tia
