8 week old, sleep advice

My wee one is 8 weeks.

She sleeps during night and knows difference between night n day. At night, she will wake anywhere from 1.5 - 4 hourly for feed and goes straight back to sleep unless disturbed by wind.

During day, I have kept her in living room or out and about. Sleeping occasionally in swing or sling. Thing is, she rarely naps or when she does, its short. Then she's unhappy as she's tired. She sleeps well in slingbut I cantthen sleep! On Sun she was awake for 10 hours!!!

I thought today I would start to train her to nap in crib. 2 hours later, she is asleep.

Heres my worry...will she confuse night n day now because she is in same place as night? Am I doing right thing by getting to sleep during day in crib? Should she sleep somewhere else like swing? Should I even be bothering to set a sleep schedule?

I am ebf, dont want to use controlled crying or baby whisper, just want to find her natural rhythm and encourage naps during that time.

Any advice valued!

TBH I just let my LO nap wherever I can during the day. So that will be her Moses basket (where she sleeps at night), the pram or her bouncy chair. None of these have had an adverse affect to her night sleep.
I think I started to try and get some routine going for nights at 8 weeks(ish). She's 18 weeks now and still no routine for naps though. Hence I just take what I get location-wise!!

I always put my dd down for naps In crib....she will just associate it with sleep time....that's good! Good luck c

Thankyou ladies.
Handbagsonhold - good to know its worked for you. Prob over analysing it but really keen to keep my nights, well...night! Its the one thing im doing right ;)

I wish she would sleep in her swing/pram but she really fights sleep during day. I could actually enjoy her this afternoon as she was rested & happy

I think ill keep trying with crib during day & hope it doesnt affect night. Hopefully when she gets used to a general nap time shell nap anywhere???

Crib - sleep, swing - fun

Let her know when sleep is.

And congratulations :) Enjoy!

I think you have the right idea. I do most naps at home, but having sad that she can nap in the buggy or car seat especially if its the right time for her nap if you see what I mean? I think though to begin with get the naps right at home and then worry about when you are on the move. I don't think there is anything wrong with edging your baby into a routine if they already seem that way inclined. Keep up the good work! Smile

Sounds like you doing a great job to be honest.... and establishing a great routine without even realising it. I must admit I was a bit ott ....home most the time for nap times and she's never been a child that will just curl up on a sofa or anywhere. However slept through the night from really early and could be put down awake for bed and naps so it worked for us.
Good luck x
