I think 7m DS is broken

Background: For the first 2 months DS would only sleep on me or in my arms, after 2 months perservation got him to sleep in his cot but with lots of waking, then from 5m he would only wake for one or two feedings. Teething completely screwed his sleeping for a few days but then went back to normal.

The past week and a half he has been waking 15 - 20 times a night and feeding every three hours, I'm on my knees. We have had a lot of fireworks from 7-10/11 and he has been teething, I just feel so drained.

Please help.

there is a growth spurt at around 6/7 months, I've just spent a week insanely feeding ds every time he's awake, very draining but it did only last a week with about another week to totally return to sleep routine.

Thanks for your reply wintersdawn I was talking to our nct group and they all say their DCs drink 4-5 7oz bottle and sleep through the night (11-12 hrs) whereas our DS drinks 6-8 6 oz bottles, he will drink a 7oz bottle but will then bring the extra oz back up. Your reply was very reassuring, fingers crossed its a growth spurt

He is clearly hungry if he's drinking that much. 20oz at that age is enough, give him more solids and not pureed veg! Roast dinners, spag bol, scrambled egg, cheese etc are what he needs to fill him up not endless bottles of formula.

during growth spurt ds was on 5 7oz bottles and draining them all with food on top, but it did only last the week. now back to 4 7oz bottles of which he only drains 2 and tends to play with the others maybe drinking half.
he has three 'meals' a day how much he eats in these is hard to judge as I I let him mainly feed himself, so he's mostly playing with it at the moment but he does get fed yoghurt once a day.

oh and I've got nct friends with kids that have never drunk the level mine does even when they weren't on food. each one is different my dd never had the massive feeding surges my ds does.

brettgirl2 · 07/11/2013 20:33

I also had 2 with totally different feeding levels but identical weight Confused so totally understand that. DD2 took gallons by 6 months Grin. Once properly taking solids it went down massively, if I was you I would be pureeing calorific meals, at least in the short term. I never gave her purees/ mashed food after 8 months.

Thanks for your replies. He also has porridge in the morning, toast followed by fromage frais for lunch and some purée followed by some of whatever we are having for dinner, sorry should have included that in my post.

Brettgirl2 we are trying to give him more solid but soft foods, ie steamed carrot sticks, pasta, etc (but we do give him some purée too just so he eats), he is eating more and more each time, although plays with it quite a bit first. We are being quite cautious and introducing new foods slowly as his dad has food allergies.
