Hello,

I am not sure where to begin, apart from...........help!

My DD is 13 months and is such a crap sleeper! I am being driven mad by the constant crying and night wakings and early mornings - I have just been signed off work for 2 weeks cos of the stress :(

In a nutshell:

  1. DD very colicy as a young baby, was on Colief until she was 5 months old
  2. Given Gaviscon as a 6 week old for reflux which we used with some success until recently
  3. Took til she was about 10 months old to learn how to self settle, due to all the flippin bouncing and rocking etc needed to deal with the colic
  4. Has slept through the night, for a whole week once (yay!) but more often than not, wakes 3 or 4 times during the evening and at least once after we go to bed
  5. Generally wakes early (5:30ish) but is grumpy and tired soon after so I don't think she means to be awake

I just don't know what to do with her?! She is my second and my DS was a bit rubbish but sleep trained really well and has slept wonderfully since around 10 months old. This child (DD) will NOT be trained under any circumstances. Nothing and I mean NOTHING works for her. She has started crying again at bedtime whereas she had just started to settle herself and as I said above, wakes all evening long. Last night she cried solidly for 15 mins for no apparent reason!

My mum was chatting a GP she knows and she suggested seeing if her reflux is still bothering her. She decided to give up bedtime milk when she was 1 (great for us - consider yourself weaned from a bottle!) so I thought it was unlikely but guess she could still be having the silent variety?

She SCREAMS when she wakes and is often inconsolable which is what makes me think that something must be bothering her, as opposed to just being crap at sleeping, cos she can be ok at it at times. Has anyone had a 1 year old who still struggles with reflux? Or slept as badly as this and you have survived?! :) Not sure how much more I can take!!
