15 month old keeps jerking awake when going to sleep

It's a bit like the moro reflex when he was a baby, but this only started a few days ago at night and today was the first time it affected him going to sleep for a nap. When we put a hand on him to steady him he goes back to sleep quite quickly but then jerks himself awake again a couple of minutes later. It took almost an hour of him going to sleep/jerking himself awake to actually get him off to sleep properly today. Has anyone else had similar experiences?

My baby had the moro reflex issue as well, but only when they were tiny. I was concerned about it and was refered to a pediatrician who was very reassuring. Perhaps see your doctor? Sorry that's not much help is it.

Thanks pukingcat, have called dr for consultation to make sure it's not an indicator of something more serious
