jet lag and sleep regression?

Just got back from a trip to the States with my 20 week old who had always been a very good sleeper, able to settle himself and easy to put down in the evening. We have tried to put him to bed a bit earlier each night until he is back to his normal bedtime of 7pm. In the week we've been back he has screamed the moment we put him in his cot, and has had to be rocked to sleep. He never needed this, even when he was newborn. Maybe jet lag has triggered some sort of sleep regression? Any tips to get out of this? Reluctant to let him cry as i think he is still too young for sleep training. Any help appreciated!!

jetlag. Only according to many MNetters it's imaginary.
Yes he's still young enough to change hugely in his sleep habits, I wouldn't rely on anything!
