5 month old waking

My 5 month old wakes most nights at 1,3, 6 and 8

He has his last bed feed at about 10.

I dont expect him to sleep all the way though - although the health visitor said he should and to offer water only. I don't want to do this as bf anyway and he is not great at taking a bottle and don't want to make this worse.

I when he wakes I feed him for maybe 15 mins and he usually goes back to sleep until the next waking. He always falls asleep while feeding so I don't think he can self settle. Does not have a dummy (will not take one)

Any hints or tips to increase the times between feeding? On the past he has gone 6/7 hours which was treat so he can do it. Really need some sleep!

Thanks

Second recommendation for No Cry Sleep Solution! At 4-5 months our refluxy DS was waking every 30-45 minutes, and I thought I would actually die of exhaustion. Confused With her tips plus him growing up we are now down to 3-4 wakings a night, still not great but SO much better, and things continue to improve!

Her way is slow but much less traumatic for all involved than some of the more tear-intensive ones, and is particularly good on feeding to sleep.

Thanks for the replies. Is that a book? I do not like leaving him to cry

My 5 month old is the same. She did 7-8 hours in August and went back to 2-3 hours. She is slowly getting better though (5-6 hours sometimes) without me doing anything different.

Isn't there a sleep regretion phase at about 4 months anyway?

My DS has just turned six months. He did this at five months too - he's FF and previously slept 8 hours a night. For about six weeks we had almost hourly wakings! Now it's stopped... I can only guess it's developmental or maybe he had the four month sleep regression late?!
Hang in there Smile

I think it's mostly developmental. However, ee.'re beginning to see light at the end of our hideously long 4-month sleep regression and three things helped (probably, unless it's coincidence): teaching her to self-settle at night and putting her to bed awake: moving her to cot in her own room; deciding I wasn't going to feed between bedtime and 1am and after that no more frequently than every 2.5-3 hrs and sending DH in to settle instead.

We've gone from multiple wakings to one or two over the past month or so
