hi...

need some advice! or would like to hear from anyone who has gone thru this and can tell me it doesnt last forever and its a phase or am i doing something wrong!!

Have a 8 (and a half - almost) month old DD. She is EBF never had a bottle at all. She has always been a good sleeper, (waking once or 2x a night), and has always happliy gone down for all her naps in the day without much of a fight and does self soothe.
Since about a week or so ago she has completely refused to go down for any nap in the day, and if she does its for no more than 45 mins and its killing me!!! ... she completely fights it.

The morning nap is often easier but her 2nd afternoon nap is impossible. She goes into her cot and rolls over as if to go to sleep and i walk out but i watch her from the door and she sits up, pulls herself up to standing (something she has just learnt to do) and chats and babbles away. Or she plays with her toys and sits happily for about an hour or more. I go in every 10mins and lay her down, tell her its time to sleep etc etc and some times she does cry but mostly doesnt!

the other day she finally crashed out at 3 pm after being awake all day since about 9am, and me spending 2 hours trying to get her to sleep!!

have tried putting her down ealier to catch her before overtired and tried later so she really is tired but i know OT means she finds it even harder to fall asleep. Today i went out in buggy to get her to sleep and car too as didnt know what else to do!!! i need her to sleep in cot in day and for longer than 45mins!!

she has just had 6 teeth come in in 3 weeks and also pretty much learning to crawl, pullling herself up etc etc and i know these are BIG milestones in her life that can affect sleep but just want to know if this is a phase because of this or am i doing something wrong!! she is a VERY VERY VERY active and spirited baby and wont sit still in arms to be rocked etc etc to sleep... tried reading a story-she tries to eat book!! singing-she grabs my mouth and puts fingers in and giggles!!!

also she has started to sleep through the night so nights not disrupted..

anyone been thru it ??? sorry for long post!!!

She might be dramatically cutting the amount of daytime sleep she needs? My DS went down to just 2 naps per day at 8 months ish.

Also, now at 10mo I find I need to limit his morning nap to half an hour or so (normally 0930-1000) to make sure he can have a nice long nap after lunch (normally 1330-1430...or sometimes 1500 on a good day).

I do find that when DS changes his nap needs very few months it always throws me on a total curveball and we have a few days where I wonder what the fuck is going on...! And then I get my head around what's changed (usually that he can stay awake much longe in between naps, or needs to drop one, or one needs to be shortened) and then we are all fine again.
