DP putting breastfed toddler to bed

Hi, DS is 2.2 and I've put him to bed every night since he was born (he still has a breastfeed before going to sleep). He's recently started asking for cow's milk before bed, but will still have a little suck of boob for comfort before going to sleep. I'd like to go out occasionally straight from work rather than having to come home to put DS to bed before I can go out, so I'm thinking of starting to get DP to put him to bed without me being there occasionally. DS is very chilled out but is very attached to the breast, so I've no idea how he'll react to this. Has anyone else been in this situation or have any tips?

Us just go out. If he asks for it DH can just say not tonight and hopefully they'll be fine. I went out at this age and both of mine just went to sleep.
