5am early riser - time to drop the lunch sleep?

Just wondering when other mums decided it was time to drop the lunch sleep? My 2.4 old energentic DS still has a 1 hour sleep at 1pm but his night time sleeping has hit an all time low and wondering if I stopped it if this would help. His bedtime routine is pretty standard, bath at 7pm, then story time and in bed 7.45ish. Any early and he's still wide awake. He will then wake up super early and no amount of persuading will keep him in bed. So this morning we were up playing cars at 5am. Any advice appreciated.

Yes, sounds like the lunch time nap should go. I think they go anywhere from 2 to 4 years old - every child is different and needs different amounts of sleep.

Have a quiet time after lunch where he watches a DVD etc or even lies in bed (if he will do that!). You will probably find that if you go out in the car he falls asleep initially so you might want to avoid any long car trips late afternoon.
