To use a dummy or not...

I've tried to be quite careful about when to use a dummy, as I'm concerned about the risk of dependence. DS (11 weeks old) is going through a really tricky patch right now (I think it's a collision of issues!) and the dummy 'rules' I implemented have been hard to stick to.

How concerned should I be about creating a dependence if I start to use the dummy more often?
