Hello, wondered if anyone has been/is going through this, and had any suggestions to offer please?
My 16mo dd has never been a great sleeper; well, up until 4 months she was, then hasn't slept a night through since. Both DP and I work full time and it's getting silly now, we're so tired all the time.
She's in nursery full time and has a regular 1-2 hour nap around lunchtime. In the evening, she goes down without too many problems, usually at about 8pm. She tends to drop off either on one of us or just on the sofa - and we then transfer her straight to her cot. We tried taking her up to her cot whilst still awake, even if she'd just had her bottle, but she took even longer to drop off.
She will then usually sleep until about 12-1am (although she sometimes stirs beforehand and just needs her dummy popped back in or a small drink of water). But after that, she wakes pretty much every hour. And not just stirring - she is full-on standing up in her cot crying, pretty much instantaneously.
We've tried bringing her into the bed but she's very very wriggly and it just disturbs all of us. We've tried moving her cot back into our room so it's next to the bed, as she likes a hand on her to settle - but its not working either.
We end up with one of us (we take it in turns) just taking her downstairs to sleep but obviously we can't do that forever! For an easy life it's tempting for one of us to just sleep downstairs with her all night, but we'd never end up sharing a bed or just having a 'normal' night time routine.
Not sure what to do really. Anyone else been through this??
Thanks
