Bedding guidelines after 1 year

DD thrashes around in her cot bed at the moment. She tends to crack her head off the top end of it a few times a night. The thud is loud enough to wake us up and she starts crying as her head hurts. Now she is 1 year old I know that guidelines change. Can we put a pillow at the top end? Any other ideas?

Yes I think a pillow is fine after 1 year.
Cot bumpers should help too.
DS3 still bumps his head at night now age 2!

cot bumpers wouldn't be recommended at that age. A pillow is ok at age 1 and soft toys strategically placed could help too

Thank you both. We had an appt at the GP today to review her meds and she suggested a rolled up 'hospital style' blanket. If it gets loose then DD can still breathe through the holes. We got a baby blanket out of the attic. GP said no pillows yet and reiterated the danger of bumpers (which we don't own).

Thanks again.
