We hit it 10 days ago and seem to be slowly coming out of it - although obviously not tonight as I'm awake right now.

To top it all DH stirred from sleep chatted to me about some cool houses abroad he had seen on the Internet [hmm{ and then went back to sleep without offering to hold DD as she started to get sleepy.

There will be repercussions!

And we're up again! Clearly not out of the woods yet!

Urgh, I'm suffering with this (DS2 is the one constantly waking but is happy and smiley, clearly not bothered!!). Tell me it gets better?! He was sleeping so, so well before. Only waking once in the night on his best days! Last night was 6 times - down at 7pm then up at 11pm, 2am, 4am, 5am, 6am and up for the day at 7.30am. I'm absolutely knackered after 5 days of this!!

What's everyone doing, just carrying on and getting through it? DS1 didn't seem to have 4 month sleep regression.

Mines crying when she wakes up. Had a heart wrenching crying fit at 3am poor thing. The rest of this week she's woken for a feed which she hasn't done since about 4 weeks old.

Last night was just awful so I don't know if teeth are playing a part.

Put her down at 11 she was crying at half past. Back to sleep just after 12 she was crying again at half past.

Sleep at 1 woke up crying 5 mins later.

Half one asleep, 5 mins later crying. Got her to sleep quickly then she woke at 3. Crying. Hysterically.

Got her to sleep then she woke crying at 6, and she has just woken not long ago and given me the biggest grin bless her!

She must be shattered though, she's also used to 6-8 hours solid sleep.

bloodsocks I feel your pain (and everyone else too!) we had a similar night on thurs :( last light was better, but I couldn't bloody well sleep! Typical!

We're pushing through in the hope she sorts herself out. She is generally more hungry too so I've carried ion feeding her. Things have improved a little but she is still going less time than previously but I'm hoping she lengthens it by herself.

We had considered early weaning as she is also refluxy and is pretty far on with the signs that they are ready unlike her older brother who didn't show them all until 8 months! but on trying a few bits she clearly isn't ready.

There are some childcare philosophies that say once they have slept through a period of time consistently then you know they can do and should consider resettling them as an alternative. Four months is a well known growth spurt/increased hunger time so at present we're just feeding away.

On the plus side it's easier for us to get all of her reflux meds doses in! Always a silver lining

Thanks Patilla and all. Last night was better - awake 3 times, not perfect but felt a LOT better than previous 5 or 6 nights. Lets see what tonight has in store...

Hope the rest of you are coping. Great to know this is all normal - I have either forgotten about it happening with older DC, or he didn't regress.

My dd is 22 weeks today and ours prob started about just over 2 weeks ago.

I'm hoping in the next couple of weeks she will have sorted herself out again. She's started going longer between feeds at night again, but then night before last was up every 2 hours! Last night she only woke once.

I'm going to start to introduce solids in a couple of weeks as well.

Hmm. My DD is only 14 weeks but she has decided 4am is get up time. We don't really have sleep established as something that happens in this house, so the idea of regressing from nothing is scary. Probably not a regression as such then.

purr I've read it can hit anywhere between 3 & 5 months and last weeks or months even. My 19 wo's sleep went to pot when she was 13.5 weeks. Initially I think it was actually down to being away and then the heatwave, which rolled into the 4 month regression that we are now in midst of. She's gone from sleeping 8-5 to waking up at random. I've given up trying to predict it and if I'm really knackered I just shift her over from her co-sleeper crib to right next to me, hoik up my top and give her access to the boob buffet... As a result I lose track of how many times she wakes up, which is probably better for my sanity, although means I have no idea if things are improving.

We had this from 13-19 weeks - up every two hours at best and every 90 mins sometimes. I was a broken woman. I know it's not a solution for everyone but I put her in her own room and two nights later it was all sorted. We're up twice a night now but I feel that's brilliant in comparison to what it was. I had been sleeping with her in the spare room so DH and DD1 wouldn't be disturbed but it seems that was a mugs game! He went to the states on a business trip, I moved back into our bed and hey presto all ok again. There is light at the end of this foggy tunnel! It might be worth thinking about if problems go on for more than ten days?

I have really thought about putting her in her own room. Ah god the whole SIDS risk is such a nightmare. Plus I'm not sure her being there would help, she seems to need so much soothing on each wake up.

Or does she? Is it that I need to soothe her?
