Can I put dd back in cot even though she climbed out?

Dd (2) climbed out of her cot once in the daytime a few weeks ago (while I was in the shower). I panicked and turned her cotbed into a toddler bed. Bedtimes are a nightmare now and in the middle of the night she's often asleep halfway across the bedroom floor. She's started crying out for us in the night again. I just really feel for her and wonder if it was too early to take her out of the cot.

Would it be safe if I turned her bed back into a cot and talked to her about staying in it? I just want her to feel secure and enjoy bedtimes again. Also it is hard having to sit with her for an hour or more keeping her in the bed until she falls asleep - we have a week old ds now and I could do with just popping her in with some books like I used to. I could still stay nearby feeding ds until she falls asleep.

No, keep the bed as a bed, and talk to her about staying in it.
If she can climb out, she could tip head first out of the cot, and onto the floor - not good!

Do you think either dream tubes or a substantial bed guard might help her?

I'm not sure if they'd help or not to be honest, might make her feel a little more secure I suppose. She just seems so much more unsettled about going to bed and falling asleep now, I hate it. She used to be happy with a toy and a book until she fell asleep, now she cries and cries Sad
