Our 3.7yr old DS gets up at least once a night (but generally twice) & walks into our room. When asked to go back to his own bed he does this, but expects us to go back on and 'sort his covers out'
I have been doing this but the last few nights have simply said 'no, you can sort them out yourself, please get back into bed'
He gets huffy and starts having a mini tantrum, but if I leave him he reluctantly gets back to bed and is asleep within a few mins.
Basically, is there anything I can do to stop him getting up in the first place? It has just become a habit. He isn't upset when he wakes and goes to bed independently (ie falls asleep without us in the room) and happy.
It is usually anywhere between midnight and 4am it happens. After that, he can be 'up' about 5.45 :( and it is then a battle to get him to stay in bed a bit longer....but that is another story!
It's the night waking that's getting a real pain, esp as I am up feeding our 4 month old baby and if they are out of sync, the nights can just feel so long and drawn out!
I love them both dearly, but the monotony of this night waking is driving me crazy!
Btw, it has only been since he moved into his big bed at Christmas that this has been happening on and off.....if I had my way, he would still be in a Gro bag in his cot ;) not viable or appropriate, I know! But we had no real disturbance at night until the change.
Any suggestions?
