Won't go to sleep.

8 mo is more and more often not settling down to sleep as soon as he normally does. Today he's had 2 half hour naps at nursery, the last being at 3.30. Bed time routine as normal and he's been in bed 30 mins, bedtime 7pm and he's still rolling around and talking/moaning/whining etc. not yet crying.
Has been the same for a few days. Yesterday took him nearly an hour to go off. He's clearly tired but won't drop off. What's going on? Where's my self settling baby gone?

Babies change all the time, mine self-settled from 6 months but went through periods of needing help from me or his dad. I just tried to keep my intervention at less as possible to try to get him to self settle again.
If he needs your help give it to him but if he's just chatting to himself and not crying I would leave him. He might be having a good time and not ready to sleep.

He's certainly having a good time lol, part of me thinks he's getting older and may not be ready for bed as early, but when I bring him down he's just a grumpy sod moaning and rubbing his eyes. Put him in his cot and its like a party in there lol. Ill go with it and hope its another phase. Thanks.

My 9mo is exactly the same. Sleepy and snuggly when she's having her milk, the minute she gets in the cot she's rolling and crawling around, smiling and talking. She's always been fart asleep by 7:30pm but it's more like half eight at the moment. On the upside, she IS sleeping through but dp has to sit by her cot til she drops off. (He has more patience than I do and doesn't make eye contact- I just get cross and growl 'go to sleeeeep')

I have no answer- hoping it's just a phase - everything else seems to be?!

He's been in there nearly an hour tonight and still moaning and talking to him self. Had 2 hour nap this morning till 12.30 and a 20 min nap at around 5pm. Really don't know but it seems to be taking longer and longer for no obvious reason:-(

Hi , do u think the nap at 5 stops him from settling as he may not b tired ? Could you drop that nap and keep him busy till 6-630 and then start the bed routine ?
