Night weaning - does it help them sleep through?

As title says really - did night weaning help your LO sleep through the night? DD is 13 months, fully day weaned and the only time I bf now is when she wakes at night and it's pretty much guaranteed to get her back to sleep quickly and easily. She wakes between 1 & 3 times a night.

I'm relatively relaxed about the waking and feeding and am of the philosophy that you do what's needed to survive! However, obviously it would be wonderful if she did sleep through and I do have something in the back of my mind wondering if I didn't feed her when she woke whether she would eventually stop waking.

I'm not prepared to put up with a lot of crying at night, so will end up feeding her if we start to have a battle, but 2 nights ago she actually did go with just two wake ups and a drink of water and settled after a cuddle. Last night was a different story however!

I'm nervous about night weaning because that would be it for breastfeeding for us then and I really don't want to find myself in the situation where I'm no longer able to do the one thing that I know will get her to sleep quickly and easily if a few weeks down the line she's not settling well again.

Have a 9 mo and just night weaned and now sleeping through. So for us it's been great. However, I think it varies between babies as I know plenty of friends with night weaned babies who wake for a cuddle.
