14mo late nights caused chaos

DS is 14mo and is usually in bed at 7.30pm. He wakes early 5.15am but will resettle until around 6.30/7.15. DH and I have been on holiday this week. Unintentionally DS has had several late nights. On Wednesday night and tonight we put him down at 7.30 and he cried so hard he had bogies coming from his nose. I tried resettling him several times but he was inconsolable and was standing in his cot holding his arms out wailing. Both nights I have lifted him out and probably wrongly so let him play a while longer before going back into bed. He is such fun when you bring hi out and more happy to play than at any other time of day strangely. On both occasions it has taken 2-3 attempts at putting him to bed before he has accepted it's time. He doesn't sleep much later having gone to bed later, this am it was 6.20 when he cried and he settled again until 7.20am. Is there a solution?

I wondered whether to try and scrap his morning nap and change him to one nap per day. Now he normally naps from 10-11 ish then again from 2-3.30ish. I wondered whether this might stop him waking early too?

My DS is 12mo and naps and sleep have been a nightmare in this heat.

It could just be time to drop to one nap though. Maybe you could give ir another week and see if it rights itself? It could just be because you have had a week off.and so the routines have been different.
