Hi My 9 month old son has started to wake at 3-4am every night and wont accept water, he gets angrier and angrier until i give him a bottle of milk (6oz) which he will drink in minutes. Im not sure if this is a phase or whether i am making it worse by giving him milk which he will expect when he wakes. Obviously i also dont want to deny him if he is hungry but he is 21lb and a very healthy chunky boy! Any advice/help/solutions greatly appreciated Thanks :)

Sympathies. DD went through a horrible stage at 8 1/2 months and woke up every 45 minutes for two months.

Tbh at the time I did pretty much anything I could to get her to go back to sleep (she has either on our bed on on the bedside cot) and that included feeding to sleep. Having said that, I've never done sleep training and I'm a bit of a wuss when it comes to that type of thing.

I night weaned her recently when she was 14 months and it wasn't as hard as I envisaged.

Growth spurt by the sounds of it. Why fight it? Feed him, everyone back to sleep quickly, job done. 12 hours can sometimes be too long for them to go if they're hungry and growing.

Then when you start to notice he doesn't guzzle it, slowly reduce the quantity every other night to wean off the night feeds.
