DD has suddenly decided she won't fall asleep unless she's being cuddled. Help!

She's 9 months and from a few weeks old has always fallen asleep on her own, in her cot. Last week she cut her first tooth and we had a couple of nights of her being very uncomfortable and needing to be cuddled as she fell asleep.

Unfortunately this seems to have stuck as she now screams the place down if dh or i put her in the cot and leave the room. She does it for both her naps and at bedtime. She's definitely not cutting any more teeth or in any pain so what do i do to solve this?

I've tried sitting on a chair in her room and ignoring her but she sits up and chats to me. Dh is very pro controlled crying which we used with ds and it worked a treat.

Are there any less traumatic ways of reteaching her to settle herself or is that the quickest/ best?

It's only to actually fall asleep in the first place that she needs a cuddle. Once she's asleep she's still sleeping right through with no problem.

Any tips/ experiences would be very much appreciated!!!

Sorry not much advice, but my dd is also 9 months and doing exactly the same. Takes about 50 mins for her to settle to sleep.

I usually leave her for 5 mins then go and give her a cuddle to calm her down then lay her down again. I can't leave her for more than 5 mins.

I have read somewhere that seperation anxiety can mess their sleep up a bit

Not much help i know but you are not alone
