14mo old not wanting to sleep

So 14 mo dd has always been a hit and miss sleeper. Most nights she winges which wakes me up, but the majority of the time i just put her dummy back in and turn her dream sheep on and shes fine. I pretty much do this in my sleep now! However, the last few nights shes been a bit odd, crying etc. After trying the usual things, she still continues to cry. On Tuesday i went back and forth for 3 hours! In the end, i brought her downstairs gave her some water, cuddled her, read her a story and changed her nappy. After about half an hour she went back to sleep no problem. The same thing happened last night, was going back and forth for an hour when i brought her in my bed to see if that helped, she stroked my hair, jumped up and down on the bed and chatted happily to herself. After about 10 mins i put her back in her bed and she went to sleep fine!

Can anyone tell me why she is doing this? Is she just lonely?

Thanks in advance.

Could it be the heat?

It's definitely messing with my sleep!

My 14month old dd has been ok bit I have her windows open all day and a fan in her room turned on for about an hour before bedtime

Thank you for replying millystar :-)

I suppose it could be the heat, didnt think of that stupidly!

Although i still dont understand why after a brief change of scene shes fine to then go to sleep?

It is strange how it's brief usually if they wake up its for a couple of hours so it seems as though she's still tired. I'd put it down to the heat to be honest. Or maybe a growth spurt or something! Once they sleep through the night you think they always will dont you ;)

My 14 mo has started waking too. Tossing and turning and generally unsettled. It's been going on for a week and a half and although he is happy in the day, he cries as soon as I put him down for a nap or into bed which he never did before. He seems to need my presence in the room to go to sleep so I have taken to sitting in the chair next to the cot until he settles. Not willing to do CIO. It's either heat or separation anxiety!? Very wearing though!
