DS is one next week. Over the last month I've been working really hard on getting him to self settle and reduce night feeds (BF). We had been doing really well and had gone from around 5-7 night feeds to just one, from feeding to sleep to him settling happily in his cot, from erratic and short naps to two good ones a day, usually in his cot.

Today he has learned to get himself to sitting. He's a bottom shuffler, not a crawler, so not being able to do this had rendered him pretty much immobile (apart from rolling) in his cot.

Oh, what fun it is! He's so proud of himself and claps with joy everytime. Added to this are his lovely newfound communication skills and he wants to tell me everything he can see in his room.

Oh God, he's so cute. But bedtime is hellish again. I know it's only the first night of it. But I'm just remembering 11 months of no sleep for me at all and getting worried! I've started leaving the room after laying him back down. I had been staying with him till he was asleep, but don't think that will work now.

Please reassure me that it will pass...quickly!

My DS has just learnt how to do this the last week or so (I bought a 1 tog grow bag) and went a bit OTT with winding down before bed. Am so proud though I keep forgetting to be in bedtime mode.

Oh great. Now he's learned to stand up in his cot too.

What a day...

I blame the sardines he had for lunch...

Grin it's brain food! Helps/ kicks up the development.

Judyandherdreamofhorses · 19/06/2013 23:08

Gro bag doesn't seem to hinder him! How old is your DS? He finally went to sleep - turns out he can easily lie down when he wants to...

Judy, my dd is exactly the same! Learnt to get to sitting on Sunday, then standing on Tuesday and has been practicing in her sleep. Seems to get to sleep but from 2am has decided that she needs to practice all the new skills. Have spent the last two nights sleeping on nursery floor with her, at least that way she can't fall anywhere. It better pass quickly!

Judyandherdreamofhorses · 20/06/2013 14:57

Let's hope it does pass quickly! I was so pleased with how he had improved so much, before this.

We've just had an hour of it before he finally succumbed to a nap. This morning's nap was easier, but then he'd hardly slept all night so was exhausted!

Oh but he's so proud of himself, and thinks it's hilarious!
